When rumors began to fly about Actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ failing marriage, Ok! Magazine called S. Renee to assess the impact on Katie’s self-esteem. When Television Personality and Celebrity Chef Rachel Ray endorsed Dunkin Doughnuts’ coffee, Marketing Daily sought S. Renee’s expertise in personal branding and brand management.

As a result of helping to transform thousands of people’s lives through her writing and speaking career and using her platform to touch the hearts of millions through her profession as a former print, runway and QVC model, television talk show host, producer and spokesperson for United Paramount Network (UPN-Philadelphia) in which she held a strong stance on addressing social issues impacting women, children and the poor, on a sunny day on Niagara Square Mayor Byron Brown declared July 17, 2010 S. Renee Smith Day in the City of Buffalo.

Delaware Today Magazine named S. Renee an Influential Woman in Business; December 2011, one of Delaware’s Black Leaders; February 2010; and one of Delaware’s 40 under 40 to watch; April 2002. In 2006, she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the National Association for Equal Opportunity.

S. Renee has the distinction of being named a 2013 Honorary Commander at Dover Air Force Base. Dedicated to enriching the community, S. Renee led the 2010 launch of the William J. & Rev. Shirley M. Smith, Sr. Scholarship Fund, which has raised over $40,000 since its inception.  She continues to serve as chair of the board. She is also a member of United Way of Delaware Women’s Leadership Council and is an active member of the Delaware Community Foundation Kent County Advisory Board—Delaware’s largest philanthropic organization. In addition to becoming a founding member for the Fund for Women, she has served on the review panel for United Way of Delaware’s Community Impact Fund.

S. Renee graduated cum laude from Delaware State University in only three years. She received training in sales and persuasion at the prestigious International Center for Management and Training Development, Leesburg, VA. She is a 2010 Leadership Delaware graduate.

During her free time she enjoys reading, spending time with family, playing golf and being near water.

  3. My primary professional role has been educator (28 years). Most of my work life, I was also employed part-time in education-related areas or retail sales. I had limited opportunity and prospects for professional/social connections outside of my isolated niches. I now want to take my experience and skills into the business arena. I am no longer employed, and recently enrolled in graduate studies that will lead to a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, Nonprofit Management and Leadership. I live within a metropolitan area, am about to turn 54 years of age, and a single black woman. Grasping the new wave of technology, refining my personal image, and making business connections appear to be challenges akin to an on-line graduate program completion. I expect, and want to work for at least another 10-15 years. What advice do you have for me?
